The Sarena de Muro Resort Mallorca is the most interesting address in the north of the island: opened in June 2025, it is the first Destination by Hyatt property on Mallorca – born from the complete refurbishment of the former Palace de Muro, with 184 rooms and suites right on the beach at Playa de Muro. In July 2026 the completed renovation was formally celebrated; shortly before, the hotel was a finalist in the “Best Resort” category at the Condé Nast Traveler España Awards 2025.

The hotel in numbers

The location: in the heart of the north’s riding country

For cyclists, the location is the headline. The resort sits in Mallorca’s most important cycling hub, where the legendary Mallorca 312 starts and finishes. The s’Albufera natural park begins at the doorstep – flat, sheltered warm-up roads, ideal for arrival day or the easy spin after a hard one.

From the hotel door it is roughly five kilometres to Port d’Alcúdia and a good fifteen to Port de Pollença. From there the classics open up: the coast road out to Cap Formentor, the climb to Lluc and – for the long day – Sa Calobra. If you want flat and fast, take the Carretera Artà south or the quiet loop to Sa Vall; for climbing without a long approach, the Alcúdia–Campanet circuit delivers. The Roman ruins of Pollentia are close by, too – a worthwhile stop on an easy day.

After the ride: recovery and dining

After the ride the Sarena Spa takes over with its hydrotherapy area and thermal zone – after 160 kilometres into a headwind, the most valuable part of the building. Treatments use natural products from the Spanish brand Arôms Natur. The fitness centre is open around the clock and runs guided sessions in the morning, which covers core work and turbo training when the weather turns.

In the evening there are four options, all under the culinary direction of Michelin-starred chef Andreu Genestra, who began his career at the Sarena: Biniterra with an open kitchen and flavours from the Levant to Iberia, Ópalo Restaurant with seasonal Mallorcan cooking, the Ópalo Lounge Bar for cocktails and tapas, and the Pool Club for grilled dishes and rice plates.

An honest verdict: not a cycling hotel, but the stronger base

The Sarena positions itself as a nature and gourmet resort rather than a classic bike hotel. If you want a full cycling package with a workshop and a mechanic on site, a specialist property will serve you better – the official hotel information does not list a dedicated bike room.

If you want five stars, a spa and cooking at this level and still want to be on a current carbon road bike every morning, the north currently offers few stronger combinations. On price, a double room was running at roughly €230–250 per night in July 2026.
