Route description
Cap de Formentor – Mallorca’s Most Iconic Coastal Route
Riding out onto the Formentor peninsula is one of Mallorca’s most famous cycling classics – and for good reason. The winding panoramic road climbs high above the sea along the sheer coastline, passing the Mirador des Colomer viewpoint, all the way out to the Far de Formentor, the lighthouse built in 1863 at the island’s northernmost point.
At 61 km and 958 m of climbing, the profile is rolling rather than relentless, but a handful of punchy ramps will make your legs notice. Set off early from Can Picafort and you’ll catch the peninsula in its best light and with far less traffic – the most relaxed way to enjoy this classic.
Route character: Rolling profile with a winding panoramic road and short, punchy ramps
Best season: February to May and October to November, plus mild winter days
Starting point: Can Picafort (Elite Sports base, north-east)
