Route description

Carretera de sa Vall – Stacking Elevation Through Quiet Backcountry

The Carretera de sa Vall is a route for riders who aren’t chasing one big pass but the honest sum of many small rollers. Over 67 kilometres it carries you through Mallorca’s hilly interior – well away from the crowded classics, along a long, quiet country road with remarkably little traffic. Here it isn’t one spectacular ascent that counts, but your steady rhythm sustained over hours.

With 768 metres of climbing distributed almost constantly across the distance, there’s never any real recovery – but no brutal wall either. That’s exactly what makes this a hard-rated endurance challenge: a continuous up and down that works the legs over the full length. The open sight lines and calm road surface invite you to stay clean in your position and control the pace rather than burn it.

Route character: rolling backcountry, many small climbs, light traffic

Best season: February to May, October to November; mild year-round

Starting point: Can Picafort (northeast, Elite Sports base)
