Route description
Ermita de Betlem – Mallorca’s Quiet Mountain Goal above Artà
The climb to the Ermita de Betlem takes you up a quiet dead-end road to the remote mountain hermitage above Artà. Instead of busy passes, you’ll find a peaceful ascent in the island’s northeast, close to our base in Can Picafort – ideal if you’re after the original, quiet side of Mallorca, away from the major routes.
At 42 km and 465 m of climbing, the tour is very manageable yet still a genuine ascent: the final stretch up to the hermitage asks for a steady rhythm, but rewards you with a wide view over the countryside and out to sea. Because it’s a no-through road, traffic is light – you roll back down the same way and can fully enjoy the descent.
Route character: Quiet spur road, steady climb, descent back along the same route
Best season: Feb to May and Oct to Nov, mild all year round
Starting point: Can Picafort (northeast), heading towards Artà
